Privacy Policy
Draft updated: September 29, 2026
Draft for review — this text is being prepared for human review and is not a final policy.
CivicClue is operated by Scoopz, LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). This draft describes how information is handled when you visit CivicClue, apply for access, or use its reporting tools, including Signals, Agent, Reports, saved leads, and Alerts.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use CivicClue, information we receive may include:
- Account and application information, such as your account identifier, name, email, profile details provided through Google sign-in, and information you submit when applying for access.
- Coverage preferences, such as a city, county, state, ZIP code, address, map center, or radius you select, together with your default area and time zone. A reporting area does not necessarily represent your physical location.
- Content and activity, including searches, Agent questions and conversation context, Alert instructions, saved leads, event feedback, correction suggestions, and files you choose to submit.
- Technical and usage information, such as browser and device details, IP addresses, page visits, feature interactions, session identifiers, and diagnostic information about errors or performance.
2. How information is used
We use information to sign you in, review access applications, provide location-based reporting tools, process your requests, remember preferences, manage saved leads, and deliver Alerts. Information also helps us respond to feedback, understand product usage, diagnose problems, and protect the service against misuse.
3. AI features and public-source information
When you use AI-assisted features, your questions, instructions, relevant conversation context, and selected coverage may be processed by our systems and AI service providers to produce responses or Alert rules. Avoid submitting confidential source details or sensitive personal information that is not needed for your request.
Signals and related material can include information about people and events obtained from public records, dispatch sources, government publications, and news coverage. Public availability does not remove privacy concerns. Review original sources and exercise editorial judgment before using or publishing information. You can use Suggest edit or contact us about a privacy concern or inaccurate material.
4. Service providers and disclosures
Running CivicClue involves services for account authentication, hosting, maps and location search, AI processing, email delivery, analytics, and error monitoring. Information relevant to those functions may be processed by these providers. Current Web integrations include Google sign-in and maps, Amplitude for product analytics, and Sentry for diagnostics. Analytics events may be associated with an account identifier and email when you are signed in.
Information may also be disclosed when you direct us to do so, or when needed to respond to lawful requests, address misuse, or protect the rights and safety of users and others. External websites and sign-in providers have their own privacy policies.
5. Cookies and browser storage
CivicClue uses cookies to maintain sign-in sessions and browser storage to remember preferences such as theme, font size, and previously confirmed coverage. Some conversation state is stored for the current browser session. Analytics services may use browser identifiers to understand how the product is used.
You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser. Blocking or clearing them may sign you out or reset preferences. Clearing browser data does not delete information stored with your account. The Web's Amplitude analytics integration is disabled when it detects Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track; this does not disable essential service requests or all diagnostics.
6. Retention and security
Information may remain in account records, operational logs, and backups for different periods according to the purpose for which it is used, service operations, and applicable requirements. Specific retention and deletion schedules are being reviewed for the final policy.
Sign-in credentials and access controls help protect account access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please protect your sign-in account and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
7. Your choices and requests
Use Settings to change supported account preferences, your default coverage, time zone, and Alert delivery email. You can manage saved leads and pause or delete Alerts through the product.
Contact us to ask about your information or request access, correction, or deletion. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply. We may need information to verify your identity and understand your request. Available rights and any exceptions depend on applicable law. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information with a request.
8. Children
CivicClue is designed for reporters, newsrooms, and local creators, rather than children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the service, contact us so the concern can be reviewed.
9. Changes to this policy
This draft will be revised as data practices and review are completed. Future versions will be posted on this page with an updated date. Additional notice may be provided where required.
